Western Railway collects over Rs 172 crore fine in 10 months during ticket-checking drives
Newsday Network,Western Railway collected over ₹72 crore in fines through intensive ticket-checking drives conducted between April 2025 and January 2026, detecting more than 27 lakh ticketless and irregular passengers during the period.
Officials said recoveries totalled ₹172.55 crore, a 47 per cent rise year-on-year. In January 2026 alone, fines crossed ₹17 crore from 2.82 lakh offenders, reflecting a 31 per cent increase.
