Newsday Network,From February 1, 2026, cigarettes, tobacco and pan masala will become costlier as the government replaces the GST compensation cess with higher GST, new cess and excise duties.
The revised tax structure aims to curb consumption of harmful products while impacting manufacturers, pricing and consumer spending patterns nationwide under the new Health and National Security Cess.
