ICC faces financial trouble as JioStar moves to exit multi-billion media rights deal

With no takers for the fresh $2.4-billion rights package, the ICC risks being left without a new broadcaster. JioStar’s troubles stem from escalating content costs and the government’s ban on real-money gaming ads, which wiped out a major revenue stream. If no replacement broadcaster is secured, JioStar will have no choice but to honour the contract until 2027.
